Basbousa, Hareeseh or Nammoura is a traditional middle eastern sweet cake that originated in Egypt. Today in GreyPot lets see how to make this Egyptian semolina cake at home.
►Ingredients for Basbousa
Semolina - 2 cups
Sugar - 1 cup
Baking Powder - 1 tsp
Milk - 1 cup
►Ingredients for Syrup
Sugar - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup Lemon - 1/4
►Method
1. Mix all the ingredients and rest it for 1 hr till the semolina absorbs milk.
2. Pour into a greased baking tray and bake it for 30 minutes on 180 degree preheated oven.
3. Make simple syrup and pour it on top of the cake.
4. Cut and serve.
